Kauri tree, estimated 1200 years old, Coromandel, New Zealand

KAURI 2000 is a long term project to add significant numbers of kauri trees on the Coromandel Peninsula in New Zealand. The kauri being New Zealand’s largest and most famous native tree.

Started as a new millennium project (hence the Kauri 2000 name) in 1999, the trust behind this project as a simple goal to plant lots of new kauri trees on publicly owned land around the Coromandel Peninsular. In their first ten years they had already planted over 36,000 new trees.

How you can help:

Every donation of NZ$20 to the Kauri 2000 Trust generates a new kauri seedling planted. For $10 you can get a commemorative plaque with your chosen text placed near the site of the plantings from your donation.

Or a donation can be made towards the running costs of the trust.
