A recent article in The Guardian (UK newspaper / news website) highlights some new research showing that the world’s forests lay a far greater role in helping against climate change, due to their physical effects on global and local temperatures.
This is additional to their established role in absorbing and storing carbon. The new research aids the understanding of how forests also help cool the local area, and influence cloud formation and rainfall – which can affect wider areas.
